EYFS - Mrs Prescott

Welcome to class 1
For Reception children homework is given out on Monday and should be returned on Friday.  We use a system that focuses on stimulating conversation, asking questions and using our creativity.  We aim to ensure homework reflects learning within the classroom.   For Nursery children activities will be sent home as and when suitable, and will mirror the Reception class homework, adapted to match age related expectations.

Reading at home

We are fortunate to have a variety of reading schemes. Reading books are provided foe all children in class 1, matching the book band to the ability level of children.  Please find below the expectations for children in Class 1.

  Reception/Year 1

We aim to provide a wide range of texts for children to enjoy, including fiction and nonfiction, phonetically decodable reading books and books that encourage children to use their reading skills e.g. picture clues, key word knowledge etc.  We encourage children to read little and often, encouraging children to talk about what they have read to help to develop comprehension skills. Reading books and diaries should be brought to school each day.

Nursery and Reception will have their PE lessons on Mondays.

Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school with all items clearly labelled with your child’s name.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning, or any of the information given please do contact school via the office or directly through class Dojo and we will be happy to support.

Please find below class 1 parent newsletters which highlight the focus for learning in each topic area.
