A Message from Mrs. Carroll – Glazebury CE Primary School

At Glazebury, our Reception curriculum is the bedrock of every child’s educational journey. Rooted in curiosity, creativity, and care, it is thoughtfully designed to nurture the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. Through rich, thematic learning experiences that span from exploring the wonders of space to celebrating diverse cultures and traditions, our children develop a deep love of learning and a strong sense of self.

Each topic is carefully chosen to spark imagination, build resilience, and encourage critical thinking. Whether they are investigating life cycles, retelling traditional tales, or discovering the lives of inspirational figures, our children are constantly building the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to thrive in Key Stage 1 and beyond.

We are proud that our Reception year is not just a starting point—it is a strong foundation that supports every child to grow into a curious, capable, and compassionate learner.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Carroll

Working Together

For Reception children homework is given out on Monday and should be returned on Friday.  We use a system that focuses on stimulating conversation, asking questions and using our creativity.  We aim to ensure homework reflects learning within the classroom.

As part of our pledge to support your child, we endeavor to read with your child at least three times a week in school. We expect the children to be read to at home three times a week, from Monday to Friday. Please record your home reading in your child's reading diary. These diaries are monitored daily and must come to school each day. Please feel free to send a class Dojo to either Miss Smith or Miss Bimson if you need any support with reading at home, we are always happy to help.

Your child's bookbag must come to school every day and must contain both reading books and their reading record.

PE: Reception have PE on a Friday afternoons.

Please ensure your child has a PE kit in school with all items clearly labelled with your child’s name. Please ensure pumps are checked each half term, as you know, our youngest children grow at a rapid rate.

If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning, or any of the information given please do contact school via the office or directly through class Dojo and we will be happy to support.
